Arsenal benefited from Liverpool's draw the previous day in the top-of-the-table game against Nottingham. At home against arch-rivals Tottenham, Arsenal made the difference in the closing minutes of the first half. An own goal and Belgian Leandro Trossard's first goal since the end of November turned the game around to 2:1.

Fourth-placed Newcastle, without Fabian Schär, who was absent due to illness, won 3-0 at home against Wolverhampton. Alexander Isak shone with two goals. The 25-year-old striker has scored at least one goal in eight games and now has 15 goals for the season. In the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, he will challenge the Swiss defense with Sweden.
