Heidi Klum's "girls" are walking and suffering again. Since last year, boys have also been taking part. But is all the hard work and trembling worth it? This is what happened to the winners of previous seasons.

No time? blue News summarizes for you

  • This year marks the 20th edition of "Germany's Next Topmodel".
  • Model mom Heidi Klum has already crowned several young women as top models in recent years.
  • But what did they gain from winning? What has become of them? blue News provides an overview.

"Germany's Next Topmodel" ("GNTM") is celebrating its birthday this year: the casting show hosted by model mom Heidi Klum (51) will run for the 20th time in 2025. Past seasons have promised some model candidates a big career leap. But what did the "GNTM" victory really bring?

First and foremost, there was Lena Gercke (36), who took the crown. You can probably still remember the then 17-year-old. The name Barbara Meier may also light a light bulb. But after 19 seasons, not all the winners are quite so memorable.

Here you can find out which former "GNTM" contestants have made it onto the covers of major fashion magazines, who is literally baking smaller rolls and for whom the catwalk has led to insignificance:

Winner 1st season (2006):
Lena Gercke

Lena Gercke was Germany's first "Next Topmodel" in 2006 - and is probably the one most people still remember today. After her victory, she continued to work as a model, appeared in various shows, was part of the "Supertalent" jury and appeared on "The Voice of Germany". She also hosted the Austrian edition of "GNTM", "Austria's Next Topmodel".

Gercke has become a super entrepreneur and founded her own fashion and lifestyle brands. In her private life, she has found happiness with Dustin Schöne (39), with whom she has two daughters.

Winner of season 2 (2007):
Barbara Meier

Barbara Meier (38) was crowned top model in 2007. She was briefly in a relationship with the son of Iris Berben (74), Oliver Berben (53), which is probably how the passionate marathon runner got into acting. The former mathematics student has since appeared in several small television roles, including in "SOKO" and "Schon wieder Henriette". She has also danced on "Let's Dance".

She continued to pursue her modeling career after her victory - walking for many well-known brands and gracing more than 15 covers of German and international magazines. In January, she walked in the haute couture shows in Paris.

Born in Bavaria, she is married to the Austrian entrepreneur Klemens Hallmann (49) and has two daughters.

Winner of season 3 (2008):
Jennifer Hof

Jennifer Hof (33) has been very quiet since her "GNTM" victory in 2008. In 2015, she announced in an interview with "Bunte" that her modeling career was over. The fashion industry is "simply very superficial", so she decided to "lead a completely normal life with her family". She trained as a tax clerk and became a mother for the third time in 2021 , according to VIP.de. Hof currently lives with her family in Sweden.

Winner of season 4 (2009):
Sara Nuru

Sara Nuru (35) is undoubtedly one of the best-known former contestants on the model show. The likeable winner from 2009 brought the channel top ratings at the time.

After securing first place, the model was booked as an advertising face by companies such as Lufthansa, Maybelline and McDonald's and appeared for designers such as Guido Maria Kretschmer and Roberto Cavalli.

Today, the Bavarian with Ethiopian roots is an ambassador for the "Menschen für Menschen" foundation and is committed to helping children in her parents' home country. She also had a small supporting role in the comedy "Otto's Eleven" (2010).

The "GNTM" winner married Swiss media entrepreneur Michael Wanner in 2023 and lives in Zurich. The couple have two children.

Winner of season 5 (2010):
Alisar Ailabouni

In Germany, she largely disappeared from the public eye after her victory, but Alisar Ailabouni (35) has made it and taken off internationally. She has already walked on numerous catwalks around the world. She experienced her career highlight in 2012 at New York Fashion Week, when she was booked by 17 labels.

The Syrian-born Austrian now lives in New York and regularly shares insights into her life as a model on Instagram.

Winner of season 6 (2011):
Jana Beller

Jana Beller (34) made headlines after her victory in the sixth season when she sued her way out of her contract with the agency "ONEeins".

She now only models on the side, has made a change of industry and is now working in gastronomy. Together with her partner, Beller opened a BackWerk franchise in Munich Central Station in 2014, as she revealed in an interview with Stern magazine. She now runs several bakeries and is the mother of a son. She hasn't posted anything on Instagram since 2021.

Winner of season 7 (2012):
Luisa Hartema

Luisa Hartema (30), wasn't she the shy one? Maybe at first, but then the East Frisian turned into a convincing winner. In 2013, she was featured in fashion magazines including "Elle" and "Harper's Bazaar". The following year, she modeled for the luxury fashion company Escada.

Today, Hartema still works as a model, commuting between New York and Munich. In 2023, she and her boyfriend Max became parents for the first time.

Winner of season 8 (2013):
Lovelyn Enebechi

At 16, she was one of the youngest "GNTM" winners: Lovelyn Enebechi (28) walked at Berlin Fashion Week, among others, but things soon became pretty quiet around the Hamburg native. It was only last year that she announced that she could not make a living from modeling alone. She also works as an influencer. As a single mother of one son, Enebechi also has her hands full.

Winner of season 9 (2014):
Stefanie Giesinger

Taking part in "GNTM" has really paid off for her: Stefanie Giesinger (28) is still a successful model, has over five million followers on Instagram and has also appeared in films such as "Der Nanny" by Matthias Schweighöfer (43) and "Asphaltgorillas" by Detlev Buck (62). She also regularly welcomes new guests to her podcast "G Spot".

Winner of the 10th season (2015):
Vanessa Fuchs

Vanessa Fuchs (28) from Bergisch Gladbach, the birthplace of model mom Heidi Klum herself, moved to the USA after winning the casting show. Today she lives in New York, where she still works as a model. Fuchs has walked several times at New York Fashion Week. Her fans can follow the winner of the tenth season of "GNTM" on Instagram to see how she is doing in the modeling industry.

Winner of season 11 (2016):
Kim Hnizdo

Kim Hnizdo (29) gave up her law degree for "GNTM", but actually won the modeling crown in 2016. The price she had to pay was high, however, as she had to say goodbye to her beautiful hair during the makeover.

But her courage has paid off: since then, Hnizdo has really taken off as a model, has been on the cover of "Harper's Bazaar", posed as the face of hair product manufacturer Syoss and leather goods company Longchamp and made several TV appearances, most recently on "RTL Turmspringen".

After Kim's victory, her ex-boyfriend Alexander "Honey" Keen (42) also received a lot of attention. The "GNTM" audience noticed him for the first time when he was extremely shocked by his girlfriend's new frieze. The couple's relationship soon ended, but not Honey's TV presence. Because in 2017 he entered the jungle camp.

Winner of season 12 (2017):
Céline Bethman

Céline Bethman (26) also put her education on hold to take part in "GNTM" - she left school before graduating from high school and put all her eggs in one basket. The risk paid off for her too, as she emerged as the winner of the twelfth season.

Almost a million people follow the model on Instagram. Bethman is under contract with Elite, one of the most renowned and largest model agencies in the world, and has modeled for Philipp Plein, Lauren Ralph Lauren and Bershka, among others. In 2022, the 26-year-old made headlines for an alleged date with Mats Hummels (36).

Winner of season 13 (2018):
Toni Dreher-Adenuga

The winner of the 13th season also continued to rake it in after her "GNTM" victory. Toni Dreher-Adenuga (25), whose full name is Oluwatoniloba Dreher-Adenuga, landed jobs with Michael Michalsky, Zalando and for Yannik Zamboni at New York Fashion Week, but also walked the catwalk in Berlin and Copenhagen.

Winner of season 14 (2019):
Simone Kowalski

Simone Kowalski (27) actually wanted to retire from the public eye, but now the winner of season 14 has announced a "reunion" with "GNTM" on Instagram. She thanks Heidi Klum for everything and recalls that the time was "not easy" but taught her a lot.

In the past, Kowalski had commented online and to various media outlets on how much she had suffered under the pressure. "My freedom was taken from me", she wrote on Instagram.

In 2020, she posed for the May issue of "Playboy" magazine, after which she announced in 2024 that she wanted to become an actress. Kowalski is still modeling.

Winner of season 15 (2020):
Jacqueline Wruck

Jacqueline "Jacky" Wruck (26) didn't stop modeling after "GNTM" either. She kept going, landed jobs with brands such as Lancôme and was booked for Berlin Fashion Week. She landed a supporting role in the ZDF series "Frühling".

The staunch vegan advocates for animals on Instagram. Her heart for four-legged friends doesn't come from nowhere, because before her modeling career, Wruck worked as a veterinary assistant in her parents' veterinary practice.

Winner of season 16 (2021):
Alex Mariah Peter

Alex Mariah Peter (27) was the first transgender winner of "GNTM" in 2021. The Cologne native has Korean and South African roots and finally danced on "Let's Dance" in 2023. In the past, she has landed jobs at Kylie Cosmetics, L'Oréal and Karl Lagerfeld.

Peter regularly shares important posts about body positivity with her followers on Instagram. At the end of 2024, she declared that she had reached her "personal peak" and weighed 111 kilograms. "My body is slowly showing me that the limit has been reached," the model wrote. She would like to say: "Plus or minus 45 kilograms, who cares, but guess what - that would be a lie!" But now she is starting a "weight loss journey".

Winner of season 17 (2022):
Lou-Anne Gleissenebner-Teskey

Lou-Anne Gleissenebner-Teskey (21) competed on "GNTM" together with her mother, who also made it to the final. But her daughter outdid her mother and the latter ultimately came third.

The Austrian impressed with her likeable manner right from the start and continued to model after her victory, including for Marcel Ostertag, Swarovski, Marc Cain and Jean Paul Gaultier. She can also still be seen together with her mother Martina.

Winner of the 18th season (2023):
Vivien Blotzki

After winning the "GNTM" title, Vivien Blotzki (24) initially concentrated on her training as a retail saleswoman. However, the first curvy top model to win Heidi Klum's casting show has not dropped out completely - she continues to model and explains in an interview with "Promiflash": "I've been to New York Fashion Week and worked for Jean Paul Gaultier, among other things. I can't complain."

Winner of season 19 (2024):
Lea Oude Engberink and Jermaine Kokoú Kothé

Season 19 was a little different, because for the first time there were also male contestants - and therefore a female winner plus a male winner. Last year, the "GNTM" title was shared by Lea Oude Engberink (26) and Jermaine Kokoú Kothé (20). A year later, both are still active in the modeling business. The Düsseldorf model keeps posting impressions of her jobs on Instagram.

The Instagram page of the winner of the 19th season also gives fans regular insights into how things are going for him. The man from Kassel has already worked for Marcel Ostertag and stood in front of the camera for Rabanne and Ford, among others.

The anniversary season of "Germany's next Topmodel" has been running since February 13 at 8.15 pm on ProSieben and Joyn. Initially on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Only in episode 13 on March 27 will all the models meet for the first time. From then on, the casting show will only run on Thursdays as usual.
