Vincent Gross, the well-known pop singer from Basel, won the silver medal at the "Wok World Championships" in Winterberg at the weekend. This entertaining event, which was created by Stefan Raab, saw the singer race down the ice track at over 80 km/h in a wok bowl.

According to a report in "Blick", taking part was a challenge for Gross, who was Swiss Taekwondo champion in 2012, as he hardly had the opportunity to prepare. "Training was simply not possible in terms of time, and unfortunately I don't have a bobsleigh run in my garden either," joked Gross. The competition required courage, a good feeling and a certain willingness to take risks. "As soon as you start, everything happens at lightning speed," he explained, emphasizing that you have to concentrate fully on the ice track.

The biggest challenge was maintaining balance in the round wok and keeping the direction of travel. While the wok suffered a few dents, Gross escaped with just a few bruises. His efforts paid off, as he finished just behind former German handball player Pascal "Pommes" Hens in second place. "The fighting spirit is deeply rooted in me. As a former competitive athlete, I'll probably never get rid of it," Gross commented proudly on his performance.
