tennis megastar as a family man, philanthropist and clean-cut personality.

No time? blue News summarizes for you

  • "Twelve Final Days" is the first film about Roger Federer.
  • The documentary film focuses on the final days of his career, showing intimate moments and putting a lot of pressure on the tear ducts.
  • The Swiss tennis king looks back on his career, his idols and rivalries and reveals a secret or two in the process.

Roger Federer's global career is a fairytale - at least from a Swiss perspective - and offers enough material for a feature-length Hollywood film. With "Twelve Final Days", the first documentary about the Swiss tennis king is now being released on the Amazon Prime streaming platform. Oscar-winning director Asif Kapadia focuses, as the title suggests, on the last twelve days of Federer's career.

From writing his retirement message to his final dance at the Laver Cup alongside Rafael Nadal, with whom a long-standing rivalry later developed into a friendship.

Emotions en masse, but also lengths

In keeping with Federer, the two-hour film offers emotions en masse, but also intimate moments that have rarely been seen before: Tears in the living room with Federer's family ties, faxes with coach Severin Lüthi in the limousine or tennis nerd conversations with his rivals in the dressing room.

Nevertheless, the second half of the film in particular is a bit long - even for die-hard Federer fans. It is a typical documentary film about a superstar, which does provide some exclusive insights, but almost only shows the protagonist in a good light. However, this fits in with the clean-cut image that Roger Federer has always cherished.

"Twelve Final Days" will be available on Amazon Prime from June 20.
