The feature film debut "Bagger Drama" by Bernese director Piet Baumgartner has received an honorable mention at the Efebo d'Oro film festival in Palermo. This was reported by the Italian news agency ANSA on Monday.

The film was shown in the Concorso Efebo Prospettive category, which recognizes the best first or second feature. Although "Bagger Drama" did not win, the jury awarded the film a "Special Mention".

The "Special Mention" award at the Efebo d'Oro film festival is another international success for the filmmaker. In September, he won the Kutxabank New Directors Award in San Sebastian with his debut feature "Bagger Drama".

In this autobiographical, fictional home movie, machines set the pace in a family's everyday life. They find it difficult to show their feelings. The film can be seen in Swiss cinemas from May 2025.

In Palermo, the drama "Me Maryam. the Children and 26 Others" won the prize for best first or second work. The Spanish film "Salve Maria" by Mar Coll won the main prize, the Efebo d'Oro. This is awarded to the best film based on a literary work.
