The 16th edition of Zermatt Unplugged will open with the opening show by Stephan Eicher, as the organizers announced on Wednesday. Chansonnier Eicher will perform accompanied by the Swiss Orchestra, the first time the festival has brought an entire orchestra on stage. Under the direction of conductor Lena Wüstendörfer, the musicians will reinterpret Eicher's pieces. The concert will also feature "friends" of Stephan Eicher, including Mario Batkovic, Swiss Music Prize winner (2023), multi-instrumentalist and accordionist.

Internationally renowned musicians such as singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald, reggae and pop band UB40 and singer Mika will reinterpret songs acoustically at the festival. Mika, who made his breakthrough in 2007 with his hit "Relax, Take it Easy", will perform songs from his current album "Que ta tête fleurisse toujours" - his first album with exclusively French songs.

Calexico mix country and Latin jazz, resulting in cinematic desert noir. Their music sounds like their name, which is made up of "California" and "Mexico". The band from Arizona brings the warm sound to the "Sunnegga Sessions" at almost 2300 meters above sea level, which can be reached by funicular railroad.

Zermatt Unplugged will take place from April 8 to 12, 2025 at the foot of the Matterhorn on 17 indoor and outdoor stages, both in the village and in the mountains. By its own account, Zermatt Unplugged is the largest acoustic festival in Europe that allows music by big names and young talents to be heard unamplified.
