Marius Müller-Westernhagen is concerned about the global political situation and criticizes the increasing egoism in society. He shares his impressions of the current situation and his experiences with Vladimir Putin.

Marius Müller-Westernhagen expresses his concern about the political situation he is observing in Germany and around the world. The singer, who is now 75 years old, explains that he has never experienced a situation like this before. He is particularly concerned about developments in the USA and the upcoming elections in Germany. "The ministers that Mr. Trump is now nominating are absolutely absurd," he says in an interview with the "Deutsche Presse-Agentur". For him, this can no longer be explained by common sense.

Selfishness in society

Müller-Westernhagen sees the reason for the political turmoil in increasing selfishness. "We have forgotten how to think in social terms," he says. The focus is too much on the individual and too little on the common good. This development is driving voters into the arms of radical right-wing parties.

Concerns about Ukraine

He is also very concerned about the war in Ukraine. Two years ago, he warned of the danger posed by Vladimir Putin. His personal experiences with the Russian president have only reinforced his concerns. In an interview with RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland, he recalls a meeting with Putin: "You think: if he doesn't like your nose, he'll just make you disappear." The fact that Putin did not introduce his wife also left a lasting impression on him. These observations confirmed his negative feelings towards Putin.
