According to the magazine "Altroconsumo", a sun lounger on the most expensive stretch of beach in Alassio, Liguria, costs an average of 340 euros per week.
Vacations in Italy are becoming increasingly expensive and unaffordable for many Italians. As the business portal QuiFinanza and the consumer association Assoutenti report, some beaches are charging over 55 euros for a sun lounger - per day.
The cost of vacations in Italy has risen by 15 to 20 percent this year, with the prices for beach resorts, known as bagni, particularly striking. Beach equipment, consisting of a parasol, chair, sun lounger and cabin, costs an average of 4 percent more than last year.
Prices vary greatly depending on the month and the exclusivity of the beach resort. The high season begins in mid-July and lasts until the end of August, with a significant price increase.
Over 300 euros for a week
According to the magazine "Altroconsumo", a sun lounger on the most expensive stretch of beach in Alassio, Liguria, costs an average of 340 euros per week. The first row even costs 392 euros, i.e. over 55 euros per day.
Senigallia offers the cheapest option with an average of 145 euros per week and 155 euros for the first row. In popular Adriatic resorts such as Lignano and Rimini, the costs are 153 euros and 150 euros per week respectively.
Other examples are Gallipoli in Apulia with 275 euros per week and 289 euros for the first row, as well as Taormina in Sicily, where a week with a parasol and sun lounger costs 194 euros and 215 euros for the first row.
