The "Traumschiff" is increasingly relying on social media stars to reach a younger audience. Barbara Wussow sees this as an opportunity, even if it brings challenges.

On Sunday evening, November 24, the "Traumschiff" set course for Argentina. As usual, Barbara Wussow was on board in her role as hotel manager Anna Liebhold. However, she is increasingly sharing the stage with colleagues who have no professional acting experience. To attract younger viewers, the production team is increasingly relying on well-known faces from the world of social media.

Influence of the influencers

Barbara Wussow expressed her understanding of this development to "t-online": "The "Traumschiff" reaches a younger audience through influencers, and the media response is enormous. It's a long tradition for stars from different areas to appear. In the past, it was celebrities like Udo Jürgens and Joachim Fuchsberger, today it's influencers. Their success proves them right, and so they have a right to exist on the "Traumschiff"." She admits that filming with amateurs can sometimes take longer, but is patient: "You also had to be patient with me back then when I started on "Schwarzwaldklinik"."

Challenges and criticism

Barbara Wussow is also familiar with the nervousness that comes with a first appearance in front of the camera, despite her theater experience. She shows understanding for stars such as Sarah Engels, Cathy Hummels and Sandy Meyer-Wölden, who were on board on Sunday. But not all viewers are convinced. Sandy Meyer-Wölden's performance was met with criticism on social media: "I guess everyone gets a go on ZDF," mocked one user on X, while another commented: "Wow, that was bad acting!"

In the past, Wussow has also been critical of the influencer wave: "Just because you have a face and can move reasonably naturally in front of the camera doesn't mean you can't play a role."
