The third part of the horror film series "A Quiet Place" is convincing across the board. Instead of just reheated alien action, the film also offers emotional cinema at its finest.
No time? blue News summarizes for you
- "A Quiet Place: Day One " is the third part and a prequel
spin-off of the popular horror film series about an alien invasion. - The director, the actors and the setting have been completely changed compared to the previous films.
- Newcomer director Michael Sarnoski ("Pig"), Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o ("12 Years A Slave") and "Stranger Things" star Joseph Quinn shine in their roles.
The first two parts of "A Quiet Place" grossed a whopping 640 million dollars at the box office. With production costs totaling 40 million dollars, this can certainly be considered a real surprise success. Now the prequel, "A Quiet Place: Day One", is being released in cinemas. Anyone who thinks that this will be the next boring copy is very much mistaken.
Newcomer director Michael Sarnoski, who led former star Nicolas Cage to a top acting performance in his screen debut "Pig" (2021), once again shows his great potential and steers the horror film in completely new directions.
Surprising plot twist
The story of the two protagonists Sam and Eric, who cross paths by chance in the apocalyptic chaos of downtown New York, offers a great deal of narrative depth. A good horror movie suddenly becomes a touching drama. This is rather unusual, at least for Hollywood productions.
Sarnoski stages New York City as a ruined metropolis of gruesome beauty. The leading actors Lupita Nyong'o ("12 Years A Slave") and Joseph Quinn ("Stranger Things") shine as an initially unequal duo who find a brief but intimate friendship in the fight for survival.
What's more, "A Quiet Place: Day One" works independently. No prior knowledge of the first two films is required. In fact, anyone who doesn't know the predecessors will probably want more. And there is also good news for fans of the series: a final, concluding part is already being planned and could be released in cinemas as early as 2025 if "Day One" is a success.
"A Quiet Place: Day One" will be showing in your blue Cinema movie theater from June 27.
