On Instagram, Bigna Silberschmidt shows what she is up to during her sabbatical: she is currently enjoying an adventurous lifestyle - and is consciously staying away from the daily news routine.

The popular presenter Bigna Silberschmidt (38), a fixture on the SRF news program "10vor10" since 2020, has quietly and secretly taken a break.

The show's audience has been missing her on screen for several months.

However, her Instagram profile reveals the reasons for her absence: Bigna is taking a longer break from her hectic news routine and going on an adventurous trip.

But there is no question of relaxation in the traditional sense. The presenter explores the Himalayas, discovers the cultural treasures of Tibet and works as a volunteer on a remote farm in Ireland.

Return in July

Bigna shares her experiences with her followers and explains: "I took a longer break to fulfill my life's dreams: to experience the Himalayas on the Nepalese and Tibetan side, to travel Japan during the magical cherry blossom season and to put on my wellies in June to learn permaculture in Ireland."

This trip is purely private, she emphasizes, and will not be part of a show. But the experiences and memories she gathers are priceless and will certainly enrich her journalistic work. SRF supports such sabbaticals.

Whether the four-month sabbatical is paid or unpaid, however, remains a secret of the fee-financed broadcaster. Loyal "10vor10" viewers will have to wait a little longer, but Bigna Silberschmidt's return is already in sight: she will be back on the show in July.

She has been a mainstay of Swiss television for nine years and has hosted the popular news program "10vor10" for four years.
