"In his portrayal in the historical series, Cyril Metzger brilliantly manages the difficult balancing act between gentle charmer and career-driven businessman," the jury explained in a statement on Tuesday.
The series "Winter Palace" is set in the early 19th century in the Swiss Alps. As hotelier André Morel, Metzger wants to promote winter tourism and keep his five-star hotel open all season long. But a number of things get in the way of his plans. The series is a co-production of Radio Télévision Suisse, Point Prod and Netflix.
Actress Sarah Viktoria Frick also won the "Prix Swissperform" for best supporting role, as the organizers of the Solothurn Film Festival also announced. She received the prize for her double role as the twins Nicole Merz and Aline Kaiser in "Tatort - Von Affen und Menschen".
The "Prix Swissperform" young talent award goes to Isaline Prévost Radeff. In the series "En haute mer" by Denis Rabaglia, she plays Julia Morand, a small key role, according to the press release.
Sophie Hutter won the jury prize for her role as the farmer's daughter Sarah Wyss in the series "Neumatt", produced by Zodiac and SRF. She undergoes a transformation from an angry young woman into a reflective businesswoman. "Sophie Hutter conveys the development of her character with great naturalness. We are deeply touched by her inner and outer conflicts and struggle along with her," said the jury.
The prizes will be awarded on Sunday, January 26 at the Solothurn Film Festival and are endowed with CHF 10,000 each.
