"We've just come out of hospital with new results. There's finally light at the end of the tunnel again," writes "Taff" presenter Daniel Aminati on Instagram under a photo showing him with his wife Patrice. The 29-year-old smiles bravely into the camera.
Patrice was diagnosed with skin cancer last spring. After a hopeful operation, the couple made it public in March 2024 that Patrice's lungs had metastasized.
At the same time as her husband, the wife of the face of ProSieben gave a social media update on their ordeal: "Unfortunately, the first treatment was not a success - I have to admit that. Now we are embarking on another, new path," she explains on Instagram.
And Patrice's journey has now lasted "475 days, 11,424 hours", as she writes. That's how long she has been living with "metastatic malignant melanoma". She adds: "I didn't realize what that really meant after the first successful operation. Now I'm in the middle of it - like many other people affected."
And being in the middle means: "Pain, cramps, sleepless nights, nightmares, operations, anxious waiting for results, appointments with doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, health insurance companies, psychologists ... never-ending infusions, tablets ... some to fight the cancer, others to reduce the side effects."
"My greatest happiness is pain-free days"
Always by her side during this time is husband Daniel, who offers hope on Instagram: "I am infinitely happy and relieved. We still have a way to go ... but I am deeply convinced that we can do it. I'm so proud of my wife."
Meanwhile, Patrice has only one wish: to finally be able to leave this path. At the moment, she often withdraws, often she simply can't go on. Even the nice things are unbearable, Patrice admits on Instagram.
"My greatest happiness now are days free of pain and anxiety, days when life shows me the sun - when I can enjoy myself and my Charly Malika," Daniel Aminati's wife writes.
The couple tied the knot in April 2022. Their daughter Charly Malika was born in August 2022. In the same month, the "Taff" presenter had to mourn the loss of his sister, who died at the age of 46 as a result of her alcohol addiction. This was followed shortly afterwards by Patrice's shock diagnosis.
In her post on Tuesday evening, Patrice expressed her gratitude for all the days when she could simply "live her sweet little life".
At the same time, she thanks her fans for all their sympathy, messages and wishes. "Today is such a good day for me - a day, hours that I want to hold on to ... and that's why I'm getting in touch with you today," says Patrice.
