A few days before the inauguration of future US President Donald Trump, the musical program continues to take shape. The national anthem at the ceremony in the US capital Washington will be sung by tenor Christopher Macchio, as Trump's team announced.

An old acquaintance will also sing at the swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol on Monday: country singer Lee Greenwood. Greenwood's song "God Bless the USA" is something of an unofficial Trump anthem. During the election campaign, it was traditionally played at Trump's appearances when the Republican took to the stage. Trump recently marketed a Bible together with the 82-year-old.

Greenwood will also perform at an event on the eve of the inauguration. Rock rapper Kid Rock is also expected to be there; he already performed at the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee in the summer. It had previously been announced that the once legendary disco group Village People would also be performing at the event.

Trump's team has now also confirmed reports that the well-known country singer Carrie Underwood will sing the song "America the Beautiful" at the swearing-in ceremony on Monday.

Billy Ray Cyrus and Jason Aldean

US country musician Billy Ray Cyrus ("Achy Breaky Heart"), rock singer Gavin DeGraw ("I Don't Want To Be") and singer Jason Aldean will also be performing at events surrounding the inauguration. Aldean sparked a racism debate a year and a half ago with the song "Try That in a Small Town" and the accompanying music video. Critics accused him of using the song to evoke not only a moral divide between people in the city and people in the country, but also a divide between black and white. The successful singer rejected this.

The star line-up at Trump's first inauguration in 2017 was limited. The national anthem, for example, was sung by singer Jackie Evancho, who became famous on the casting show "America's Got Talent". The inauguration of US President Joe Biden in 2021, on the other hand, was attended by celebrities such as megastars Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.
