Kick-off in Valais Zermatt Unplugged celebrates its return after two years

3.7.2024

5 days, 137 concerts, 20 discovery acts, 19 DJs, 18 stages and a Matterhorn: Zermatt Unplugged brings a great atmosphere to the Valais vacation resort - and kicks off with a big hit.

Thom Yorke, Ellie Goulding, James Bay and Rea Garvey have to give way to another superstar. Nena is the first headliner to open Zermatt Unplugged on Tuesday, April 5. Sam Ryder, Jake Isaac and our ESC hopeful Marius Bear will be joined on stage by Italo rock icon Edoardo Bennato and Aloe Blacc ("I Need A Dollar").

But the main acts only make up part of the music event.

Up-and-coming young artists and well-known jazz greats are also part of the program - to be heard and seen on various indoor and outdoor stages in the middle of the mountains or in the centre of the village.

«Five days full of wonderful musical moments and encounters await us.»

"After two winter seasons without a Zermatt Unplugged at the end, we are delighted to finally be able to welcome our audience, our partners and musicians from all over the world to Zermatt again," says Festival Director Rolf Furrer. "Five days full of wonderful musical moments and encounters await us."

Dreamlike mountain scenery, peaceful nature

The Zermatt mountains offer an impressive backdrop. For example, the audience - and of course the artists - can enjoy the sun terrace of the Stafelalp at 2220 meters above sea level with a view of the north face of the Matterhorn and many other stages.

Despite the mountain backdrop and peaceful nature, the current situation in Eastern Europe should not be forgotten: On Saturday, April 9, there will therefore be a charity concert with the Ukrainian artist Postman.

The proceeds will go to the "Music Saves UA" initiative of the Ukrainian Association of Concert Organizers and the Atlas Festival in Kiev.
