  • Seeed deliver a full-on stage show

Stress has already warmed up the audience. Then it's straight on to the next Piazza party without a break. It's unbelievable how much atmosphere ten Berlin dancehall musicians and their huge crew can conjure up on stage.

A very elaborate stage set underlines the Seeed troupe's gigantic show.

A worthy finale for Moon&Stars 2022. There were many magical moments - and we have captured them for you in the picture gallery.

"Grazie, arrivederci, goodnight!": We say goodbye slowly with the words of James Blunt (grazie James!). Thank you for your attention. We hope you enjoyed the slow ticker. We certainly did ...

    Lausanne says merci

"Thank you for your interest in Swiss music. I'll be 20 years old next year. I've been lucky in life and with my career, merci!" is how Stress starts his concert in Locarno and bang, the audience is on his side right from the start. Andres Andrekson and his singer Karolyn bring the flair of Lausanne to the Piazza.

It's noticeable that the audience is younger today. When he performs the Dabu Fantastic song "Angelina", everyone sings along.

Stress also gets the Golden Circle moshing.

A huge birthday party on the Piazza

"MfG", best wishes, the Fantastischen Vier get off to a flying start right from the start - and don't skimp on the hits. No wonder, it's time to celebrate their 30 years live on tour.

"A Day by the Sea" fits in perfectly with the Mediterranean flair at Moon&Stars. Of course, "Picknicker" or "Die da!?!" should not be missing from Fanta4's gigantic open-air birthday party.

Finally celebrating again, singing along at the top of your voice and celebrating life. And that feels so good.

Seven lets the audience carry her on their hands

Does Seven have to go straight on to the tennis match, the audience at Moon&Stars ask themselves as Seven appears on stage in all white - including tennis socks.

No matter. Seven and the Piazza crowd are immediately warmed up, there's no need for a long warm-up - after all, the singer-songwriter from Aargau knows how to do it after over 1000 live gigs.

"Thank you for watching 'Sing meinen Song'. You're interested in the music. Without it being a contest or there being a prize," says the soul singer. Meanwhile, he lies on his back, sings "America" by Adrian Stern - and lets the crowd carry him around the piazza. Grande.

    Our secret anti-heat tip

Are you already in Locarno and looking forward to Seven and Fanta4? So are we. Seven is on stage at 8 pm, Fanta4 at 9.45 pm.

Enough time to escape the stifling heat. In the idyllic Onsernone Valley (Valle Onsernone) you can cool your head again. Where exactly? Find out in our video report "Switzerland rediscovered".

    King of ballads and prankster

James Blunt's comeback on the Piazza Grande is a much-anticipated one. As soon as the British hitmaker kicks off, everyone sings along. "Thank you for having us back", he thanks the audience.

It's almost a home game for the singer-songwriter, who lived in Verbier for several years and describes himself as "basically Swiss".

Between "Adrenaline" and "Goodbye My Lover", he jokes: "My lockdown was definitely worse than yours. I spent it with my mother-in-law. 24 hours a day, seven days a week." James Blunt turns out to be a real joker. One who knows how to entertain his fans between the many catchy tunes.

The highlight of the show? Without a doubt, when his super hit "You're Beautiful" rings out across the Piazza.

As a farewell, there are soap bubbles - instead of the usual shower of confetti. A successful end to a romantic evening full of ballads.

"Grazie, arrivederci, goodnight!" - and James Blunt is gone.

    Family visit for Noah Veraguth

Shortly before the show, the Pegasus frontman told blue News that his mommy would be in the audience today. She lives in Ticino. The special concert guest makes him a little nervous.

No reason, Pegasus have a lot of live experience and everything went according to plan at the sound check in the afternoon. The show can begin. The piazza is slowly filling up ...

On stage, there is no sign of Veraguth's possible nervousness. This is his world, here the man from Biel mutates into a great entertainer.

The audience on the piazza quickly warmed up and celebrated the Swiss act. "Rise Up", "Better Man" - sung from the audience - and "I Take It All": Pegasus never misses a catchy tune. A truly harmonious concert - not just for Noah's mommy.

    Siamo i pantaloni morti

"Noi siamo i pantaloni morti" is how frontman Campino introduces himself on the Piazza Grande - and the audience is thrilled. Campino cheers the crowd on again and again. Just like a good coach fires up his team. And in between, he repeatedly parlays Italian, not even that badly.

Then he stands there in his fire department uniform, a gift. Despite the still tropical temperatures, Campino perseveres and dedicates "112" to the firefighters (original sound: "Questa canzone la dedichiamo ai pompieri").

Moon&Stars is a home game for the pants, they have a large and very loyal fan base in Switzerland. Some fans have already seen and celebrated their performance on Sunday at the Letzigrund in Zurich (see video report below).

Spotted among the VIP guests: Melanie Winiger, model and actress and Campino's ex-girlfriend.

«Who has never been to a Hosen concert? Welcome to you two»

In the middle of the show, the pantaloni morti fire up the hit machine: "Alles aus Liebe", "Wünsch dir was", "Alex" (well finally, it was high time...), "Schrei nach Liebe", "Zehn kleine Jägermeister", Adriano Celentano's "Azzurro". The perfect song for this Mediterranean evening on the piazza.

Andreas Frege, alias Campino, sweeps across the stage without taking a breather or an extended jam session. Chapeau! The drops of sweat just roll down his face.

At the end there's a quick shirt change. Black top for a Liverpool jersey - the half-Englishman's favorite team.

"Who's never been to a trouser concert before?" he asks the audience and adds: "Welcome to you two!". Laughter. Just as everyone sings along to "You'll Never Walk Alone", there can't be more than four or five newcomers to the pants.

The Piazza is transformed into a gigantic stadium. People cheer, dance and shout along.

"Grazie mille!", Campino thanks the audience, hangs a fan bra around his shoulder - and leaves the stage with a grin.

Royal Republic and a fun fact

It's not easy to describe the music of Royal Republic from Malmö. They fit into several categories. Alternative rock could also describe them. In any case, they create a great atmosphere and the warm-up goes smoothly. Fun fact: A rock band with pearl necklaces? That's right, it exists and it's called Royal Republic.

Voilà, that's Adam Grahn from Royal Republic.

    Siesta ready

After the sound check of the Toten Hosen and Royal Republic, one thing is clear: it's going to be loud as hell on the Piazza Grande today.

  • Tuesday, 22.15

    Blues superpower from Emilia Romagna

Zucchero starts the evening with an opulent intro. He has chosen "Spirito nel buio" as the concert opener. After just a few bars, it is clear that the "sweet" blues singer from Italy has the audience in the bag. The Piazza erupts in cheers, Mister "Fuck the Système" (as it says on his T-shirt) inspires with his voice, the driving rhythms and his skills. That voice - you'd think Zucchero, alias Adelmo Fornaciari, was already gurgling whiskey in the morning.

And to back him up, he has two drummers with him. A drummer and a female drummer. Mamma mia, che concerto!

"Fuck the Système": Blues singer Zucchero inspires from the very first minute.

    Funky, funky

Dutch saxophonist Candy Dulfer has several number one hits to her name. She performs funky and jazzy on the Piazza Grande - and her outfit is very funky...

Candy Dulfer heats up the audience, at 28 degrees.

Dolcefarniente in Locarno? Not at the festival

The electric piano on the Piazza Grande stage is wrapped up. In a kind of thick aluminum foil. Why? Probably to protect it from the extreme heat. It's 34 degrees in Locarno, there's no breeze, not a cloud in sight.

One, two, check, check: it works. Everything ready for Candy Dulfer.

A firework display of hits with Bligg

Bligg has an unmistakable talent for delivering a dramaturgically gripping show. Right at the start, he fires off a few catchy tunes such as "Manhattan", "Volksmusig", "Legändä & Heldä" or "Musigg i de Schwiiz" - and bang, he's got the audience in the bag.

In between, Bligg's brother Sam provides cool DJ breaks on the turntables.

Blay's bandmate Marc Sway appears on stage for the big showdown. Rumors had been circulating in the alleyways of the Piazza Grande for some time that Blay would still be performing together.

Bligg and Marc Sway set an atmospheric and atmospheric final point on Saturday evening with "Sorry Mama" and "Us Mänsch".

See the impressions in the picture gallery above.

  • Saturday, 11.22 pm

    Dodo plays Romeo and Juliet

"Hippie Bus" Dodo always has a surprise up his sleeve. So he boards a balcony with his backing singers and performs from above. Not really a new idea. But it really brings out the beauty of the piazza.

A dodo show doesn't need a lot of frills, it works just as well.

  • Saturday, 20:30

When a good mood is contagious

Marc Sway knows how to heat up the audience: with hot Brazilian rhythms and a perfect feel-good show. A little Ipanema feeling on Lake Maggiore - like a big party with his best friends under the stars of Locarno.

  • Saturday, 18:30

    Chicken skin moment with Zian

Black pluderhose, black T-shirt: Zian's stage outfit is authentic but not very practical for the Moon&Stars - with its 32 degrees. But the Basel native battles his way through his intense show. With his stirring ballad "Old Again", he provides the first chicken skin moment on the Piazza Grande.

One thing is clear: Zian has the format for the big stage.

  • Saturday, 14:35

    "Hippie Bus", "Hardbrugg"

Dodo is already warmed up and ready with his band. Soundcheck is done, everything is good. Festival fashion on.

  • Saturday, 14:29

32 degrees and it's not getting any colder ...

Buongiorno da Locarno! Once again, not a cloud to be seen in the sky far and wide.

In numbers that means: today it will only get a little "colder" again after 10 pm with 28 degrees.

Here's our festival tip for hot days: drink, drink, drink water - and not too little. Putting on sun cream is also an advantage...

And that's how you'll get around at "Moon&Stars" 2022. Cut out this part and take it with you.

Hecht go full throttle: "Arsch a Arsch am Tanze" and in the paddleboat across the whole piazza

Hecht start their concert adventure with a surprise effect. Stefan Buck and his companions are not standing on the fully lit stage. No, they start in the middle of the crowd: "Now we're dancing, dancing, ass to ass dancing", intones Stefan Buck from the catchy tune "Tanze Tanze". And everyone, really everyone, sings along at the top of their voices.

The atmosphere is charged with expectation. And Hecht know exactly how to surf the wave of sympathy. Hit follows hit - and the audience keeps singing along at the top of their voices.

Mamma mia, what a show full of infectious energy. The crowning glory of a successful festival opener. A start with a lot of Swissness.

"Heicho", "Kawasaki", "Adam and Eve" and "Charlotta" - a firework display of hits as the grand finale - including confetti rain and Stefan Buck's surf through the crowd on a paddleboard.

What a great start, you can see the pictures in the gallery above. Buonanotte Piazza Grande, a domani!

And the whole piazza is dancing salsa

As soon as Loco Escrito kicks off on the big stage, no dancing feet can stand still. It's an incredible sight to see the whole audience dancing salsa. Not everyone is always in rhythm, but at least they are.

Move your hips: Loco Escrito brought the Latin groove to Locarno.

    Dabu Bucher, approachable and wonderful

What a start on the Piazza Grande: singer Dabu Bucher mingles with the audience and creates a familiar and close feeling with the audience. Dabu Fantastic are fresh, likeable and relaxed. Fantastico!

Dabu is in da House, er, on the Piazza. Armed with a blue parasol, he enjoys a dip in the crowd.
