Musician Sinead O'Connor has died of natural causes, according to a coroner. The singer ("Nothing Compares 2 U") was found lifeless in a London apartment last summer.
A coroner has now concluded that she died of natural causes, the British news agency PA reported, citing Southwark Coroner's Court.
The Irish musician died unexpectedly in July 2023 at the age of 56. Police said at the time that the death was not being treated as suspicious.
Controversial artist
Almost two weeks later, many people in Ireland said goodbye to the singer. In the coastal town of Bray, south of Dublin, numerous mourners lined the promenade. Irish pop stars Bono, frontman of the band U2, and Bob Geldof, for example, took part in a private mourning ceremony.
O'Connor was one of Ireland's best-known musicians. She had her international breakthrough in 1990 with the song "Nothing Compares 2 You", written by Prince. She recorded several albums during her career and experimented spiritually. She was also known for controversial performances and, for example, tore up a picture of Pope John Paul II on camera in 1992.
