  • It's still a while until Christmas, but there's already a first present: Michelle Hunziker is singing a duet with Roland Kaiser.
  • The 71-year-old pop star is releasing his new album "Goldene Weihnachtszeit" on December 10.
  • The album will include the song "Baby, It's Cold Outside", which Kaiser sang together with Hunziker.

While Thomas Gottschalk will soon be hosting his last "Wetten, dass...?" show without his long-time presenter Michelle Hunziker, Roland Kaiser has taken a liking to the 46-year-old - or at least to her voice.

The 71-year-old German pop star has sung the song "Baby, It's Cold Outside" together with Michelle Hunziker for his Christmas album, which will be released on December 10.

Michelle Hunziker: "It wasn't a good idea"

"The first time I saw Michelle was as a guest on a Helene Fischer show, where she also sang with Helene", says Roland Kaiser in an interview with the German newspaper "Bild".

He continues: "I think she's a very friendly and also very clever woman who comes across very positively on TV. Michelle is a very professional colleague who also takes what she does very, very seriously, and I thought that might be a good fit."

Roland Kaiser is right: "Baby, It's Cold Outside" is not Michelle Hunziker's first appearance as a singer.

She tried her hand at singing in public for the first time in 2006. Back then, she sang the song "From Noon Till Midnight". Years later, she said in an interview with blue News:

"I recorded that record because I got to play Sally Bowles in the musical 'Cabaret' shortly afterward. I thought the record was good preparation. In hindsight, I can say it wasn't a good idea."

Nevertheless, Michelle Hunziker tried her hand at singing again in 2017. She recorded a duet with the Italian singer Al Bano.

Two years later, the aforementioned invitation from Helene Fischer to her Christmas show followed. However, the duet, a cover of Andrea Bocelli's ballad "Fall On Me", did not please all TV viewers.

Is Roland Kaiser retiring soon?

Singing duets is like playing in the Champions League final. Now Michelle Hunziker is taking this step once again - together with Roland Kaiser.

The upcoming album "Goldene Weihnachtszeit" is the highlight of a special year for the German pop star. In the summer, Kaiser conquered first place in the German charts with his 30th album "Perspektiven".

"Of course I'm delighted that after so many years I'm still able to win over audiences with contemporary productions," Kaiser told Bild.

The 30th album, number one in the charts - wouldn't that be the ideal time for a farewell from the stage and thus for a well-deserved retirement?

Roland Kaiser waves it off: "You know, that's still a long way off. I'm healthy and I enjoy my job."
