The most tedious ticket purchase of all time Dear Taylor, you're really complicated, but see you around

Tickets for the Swiss concerts by US superstar Taylor Swift went on sale today, Thursday, at 10 a.m. sharp. The good news: I managed to get tickets. But it took me a lot of energy to keep an eye on three computers at the same time.

No time, blue News summarizes

  • The American chart-topper Taylor Swift is coming to Switzerland for two concerts in 2024.
  • Only those who had obtained a code from the concert provider in advance could hope to get a ticket.
  • Using three computers at the same time, blue News editor Carlotta Henggeler managed to buy two standing tickets in 27 minutes.
  • Despite the hefty prices, the concerts were sold out in just 30 minutes.

I confess, I don't know a single song by Taylor Swift ad hoc. All I know is that her fans go crazy for her concerts. So the so-called "Swifties" put on Pampers to get a good spot in front of the concert stage. Taylor Swift would have to perform for years to please all her fans.

Putting on Pampers for the front row? I would never do that in my life. I wouldn't even do that for my absolute all-time favorite band Guns n' Roses. Never ever.

And even though I can't name a Taylor Swift hit without googling it, I got caught up in the rampant Taylor Swift mania and turned into a bit of a Swiftie this morning. I went all out to secure tickets for myself - and my companions.

Specifically: I put my office computer (sorry, boss), my cell phone and my personal laptop on hold at the same time.

And then there's this ominous bar in the waiting area that just won't grow. No matter how often and intensely you stare at it.

This waiting in line is getting me down

Things are moving at a snail's pace, the countdown is relentless. Editorial colleague Bötschi is in (yeah!), girlfriend Eliane too. Three neo-swifties against the rest of the Swift community.

My nerves!

And then I'm in with my cell phone, arrived at the holy grail of Swift's ticket sales.

Almost blindly, I click on a date (Wednesday), take a quick look at the prices - and have to swallow: standing room costs 163 francs, VIP 340 francs. VIP? Whatever that means.

Anyway, I want to go, I want to be there. I want to find out why her fans are wearing diapers so I can experience Taylor Swift's stage show up close.

When I get to the virtual box office, my heart leaps for joy. Bling, the confirmation pops up in my inbox.

Working mother from Zurich: "It was a wild ride"

A 42-year-old working mother from Zurich (name known to the editors) also took part in the exercise. The ticket was supposed to be a present for her 8-year-old daughter, a little Swift fan. The mother even has a meeting postponed for it.

Shortly before 10 a.m., the family storms the virtual sale with united forces. With them: grandfather and sister. They keep flying off the page, and in the end the 42-year-old is able to buy two VIP tickets worth 400 francs. In addition to the concert ticket, there are some Swift fudge and early admission to the stadium. "It was a wild ride," she says.

The mother from Zurich was not only annoyed by the laborious online purchase. She also finds it outrageous that absurdly overpriced tickets appear on Ricardo just a few minutes after her purchase (see picture).

Just a few minutes after the first Swift fans were able to buy their tickets, overpriced tickets appear on Ricardo. A standing room ticket costs 163 francs in normal sales. On Ricardo, a standing room ticket was offered for 999 francs. The offers have since been removed from the site.

Ticketcorner warns against tickets on the black market

Ticketcorner media spokesman Stefan Epli warns "Blick" not to take advantage of such offers. "A sale isn't actually possible yet: the tickets haven't even been sent out yet, just the purchase confirmations."

After the run, Ticketcorner now has to check the orders. Tickets could still be canceled if, for example, different people had ordered with the same credit card or email address.

This is another chance for all fans who weren't lucky today: canceled tickets will be resold on an ongoing basis.

Phew, Taylor Swift, you cost us a lot of nerves. But we are among the lucky ones. See you on July 10, 2024 at the Letzigrund in Zurich.
