They were the pop lovers of the early noughties - but the relationship between Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake ended messily.
In the music video for the song "Cry Me a River" in 2002, Timberlake suggested that his ex-girlfriend had cheated on him. In her autobiography "The Woman in Me - My Story", published in October 2023, Britney Spears wrote how much this had hurt her.
But now the U-turn: Three months after the book was published, the singer apologizes for "some things". "I want to apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book," the 42-year-old wrote on Instagram.
"If I've offended any of the people I really care about, I'm deeply sorry."

Britney Spears also praised her ex-boyfriend's new single in the post: "I also wanted to say that I love Justin Timberlake's new song 'Selfish'," the singer wrote. "It's so good."
Justin Timberlake, with whom Spears was a couple from 1999 to 2002, released the single a few days ago.
In her memoirs published last October, Spears wrote that she had become pregnant by the musician during her relationship with Timberlake and had an abortion at his insistence.
Her ex-boyfriend later distanced himself more and more and ended the relationship via text message. Timberlake initially did not comment on the allegations.
Britney Spears was released from guardianship in 2021
Britney Spears, who has won multiple platinum records and Grammy Awards, is one of the most successful artists in music history.
In 2008, her father Jamie Spears took over guardianship of the musician after she suffered a mental breakdown due to personal and professional problems.
The pop icon was then released from this guardianship in 2021 after a long legal battle.
