After isolated protests before the concert, the Berlin band Rammstein was celebrated frenetically by the fans at the first of three home games on Saturday evening. "We're home again! Thank you, Berlin!" said singer Till Lindemann, who had been confronted with accusations about his treatment of women, at the end of the two-hour performance.

There had been protests before the concert because of the accusations against Lindemann. According to the police, around 300 people gathered outside the Olympic Stadium to demand a ban on the event. The protesters had previously marched to the stadium in a demonstration.

More than 60,000 spectators

As on Saturday, more than 60,000 people are expected to attend the concerts this Sunday and next Tuesday, which will be characterized by hard sounds and pyrotechnics.

Several women have made accusations against Lindemann - some of them anonymously. They describe situations they perceived as frightening. Sexual acts are also said to have taken place at after-show parties.

Lindemann rejects the accusations against him. His lawyers refer to allegations on social networks that women were "drugged with knockout drops or alcohol at concerts to enable our client to perform sexual acts on them. These allegations are untrue without exception".

The Berlin public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation against Lindemann. It must investigate if there is suspicion of a criminal offense. Media reports can also be the trigger for this. The presumption of innocence applies until the investigation is concluded.
