The 60th Solothurn Film Festival begins on Wednesday evening. The showcase of Swiss filmmaking will open with "The Legacy of Bruno Stefanini". The documentary paints a portrait of the Winterthur real estate owner and building contractor.

Filmmaker Thomas Haemmerli takes a humorous look at the curious objects Stefanini hoarded as a collector and art lover.

The film is entirely dedicated to the anniversary edition: documentaries dominate. The themes of legacy and inheritance run like a red thread through the program. There is also a focus on biographical films. While the opening film also works with humor, many of the other films follow the heavy themes from around the world.

Especially for the anniversary edition, there will also be a retrospective of films for which the Jura served as a backdrop.

Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, who is in charge of the Federal Office of Culture (FOC), will give a speech at the opening ceremony.
