Pollack celebrated his greatest successes with works in which he shed light on the painful history of the 20th century and linked it to his own Nazi-influenced family history. Especially with works such as "Anklage Vatermord" (2002), "Der Tote im Bunker" (2004) and "Kaiser von Amerika" (2010), he has set new standards in the culture of remembrance as an admonisher against forgetting, Residenz Verlag paid tribute to him on Friday.
Pollack's books, in which he also made a name for himself as an expert on Eastern European history, have been translated into 14 languages. According to the publisher, a new book will be published in May under the title "Zeiten der Scham. Reportages and Essays", another book by Pollack. It will bring together reportages and essays from recent years and include two new texts.
