No news of success on Saturday morning from the Short Course World Championships in Budapest: Marius Toscan failed in the 400 m medley in the preliminary heat, as did Louis Droupy in the 50 m breaststroke.

Toscan finished third in his preliminary heat in 4:10.39 minutes. However, the 22-year-old from St. Gallen would have had to beat his own Swiss record (4:09.18) by almost five seconds to reach the final of the best eight.

Droupy also clearly failed in his bid to reach the semi-finals for the first time in his third World Championships appearance. The 23-year-old from western Switzerland, who is taking part in the World Championships for the first time, finished 48th in the preliminary heats in 27.52 seconds.

Things get serious again for Noè Ponti on Saturday evening. The bronze medallist at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics will compete in his third final in the 100m dolphin in the Budapest swimming pool. After winning gold in the 50 m dolphin and 100 m medley, the Ticino native is once again a prime contender for the world title.
