After finishing 2nd in the downhill, Marco Odermatt follows up with victory in the super-G in Beaver Creek. The man from Nidwalden wins with a lead of 18 hundredths over Frenchman Cyprien Sarrazin.

After a less than flawless run, Odermatt was still just behind Sarrazin at the last intermediate time, but impressed with a strong final section. For the 27-year-old, it is the 38th World Cup victory of his career, the 13th in the super-G.

The Birds of Prey slope in the US state of Colorado obviously suits the Swiss skier. It is his third victory after his triumphs in the super-G in 2019 and 2021, plus four 2nd places, half of which he achieved in the super-G and half in the downhill.

Sarrazin, who did not quite live up to expectations in the downhill on Friday with 9th place, came back the next day with a strong run. After a moment of shock at the start, he skied to a new best time in his usual spectacular manner, which was narrowly beaten by Odermatt.

The podium is completed by 23-year-old Austrian Lukas Feurstein. It would be his first top 3 finish in the World Cup; his previous best result was 6th place in the super-G in Cortina d'Ampezzo in January 2023.

7th place for Caviezel

Gino Caviezel, who started with the number 4, had long hopes of making the podium, which was also due to the many retirements at the start. Only four of the first ten racers made it to the finish. However, he was left behind by a number of riders with high numbers and ultimately finished in 7th place. For example, the Norwegian Fredrik Möller and the Italian Giovanni Franzoni surprised everyone by sharing 4th place at the same time.

Justin Murisier, the winner of Friday's downhill, did not quite keep up with the leaders in the super-G. He finished in 17th place together with Alexis Monney.

At the end of the World Cup races in Beaver Creek, the second giant slalom of the season is on the program on Sunday. In this discipline, the Swiss have something to make up for after the unsuccessful start in Sölden, where Odermatt's retirement resulted in the worst giant slalom result for over four years.
