The Berlin Marathon is firmly in Swiss hands in the wheelchair category. Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner win in superior style.

Three weeks after his third consecutive Paralympics victory in the marathon, Hug once again dominated the race on the streets of Berlin. He won the classic 42.195 kilometer race in Germany's capital for the ninth time.

Hug crossed the finish line one minute and 47 seconds ahead of Britain's David Weir, who, like the Swiss, is a multiple Olympic and world champion. Third-placed Dutchman Geert Schipper was already more than three minutes behind.

Debrunner, the big winner in athletics at the Paris Games with five gold and one silver, won in Berlin for the third time in a row. Two years ago, she made her marathon debut at the same venue. In her latest success, she distanced her first pursuer, the American Susannah Scaroni, by almost three minutes. Manuela Schär and Patricia Eachus rounded off the strong Swiss performance with 3rd and 4th place.
