Five Swiss athletes - three men and two women - qualified for the quarter-finals of the top 30 in the skating sprint at the Cross-Country World Cup in Davos.
Valerio Grond and Janik Riebli also proved their good form, thanks to which they finished second on the podium in the team sprint on Friday evening, in the prologue of the individual sprint. With seventh (Grond) and thirteenth (Riebli) time respectively, the Grisons native and the Obwalden native moved into the knockout rounds without any problems. The big surprise was Roman Alder in 26th place. The 20-year-old from the Engadin is taking part in his first ever World Cup race in Davos.
As expected, Nadine Fähndrich (11th) and Anja Weber (28th) made it through to the women's quarter-finals. The two had also finished third in the team sprint. Lea Fischer finished 32nd in the 1.5 km prologue, just missing out by two tenths of a second.
