Ski and snowboard freestylers will not be launching the World Cup winter in Graubünden next year. Big Air Chur is suspending one season.

"After intensive discussions and clarifications, the organizer Frist Event AG, the city of Chur and Swiss-Ski have decided to suspend the City Event Big Air Chur in autumn 2025 (winter season 2025/26)," writes Swiss-Ski in a press release. The reason for this is extensive construction work for the exhibition and event hall on the Obere Au in Chur, which makes it impossible to hold the event, it continues.

Since 2021, Chur has hosted the World Cup spectacle every October, where the world's best freestylers jumped from a 40-metre-high ramp directly onto the festival site. This year, 20,500 spectators flocked to the event over the two days of competition. According to an article in "Blick" on November 1, not all costs were covered. Big Air Chur was already in the red in 2022.
