A psychiatric expert answered questions from the Federal Criminal Court on Wednesday about the alleged perpetrator in the case of the Egyptian diplomat murdered in 1995. The doctor diagnosed a dissocial personality disorder in the now 55-year-old defendant.

According to the expert witness, the accused has a dissocial personality disorder with a psychopathic dimension. The doctor assessed the risk of relapse in the next ten to 15 years as medium to high. In general, such a disorder is not amenable to treatment, as the person is not suffering and is not motivated to start therapy.

The psychiatrist considered further development to be very unlikely and suggested that the person could be detained in the event of a conviction. In the event that the person concerned admitted to all the facts, treatment could be considered, provided that the consent was genuine. After five years, an initial assessment should be made in order to decide how to proceed.
