Business at Mercedes-Benz has been weak recently. Now the car manufacturer is restructuring its management. It is getting younger - and more male.

The car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is restructuring its management in a big way. There will be changes in four positions, as the Stuttgart-based DAX-listed company announced. Mercedes is saying goodbye to three highly esteemed members of the Executive Board as their contracts expire.

Head of Human Resources and Labor Director Sabine Kohleisen is stepping down early at the end of April 2025. Her contract would have expired in November 2025. Her position will be taken over by Britta Seeger, the current Chief Sales Officer. From March next year, the position of Chief Sales Officer will be held by Mathias Geisen, the current Head of the Van division.

New Head of Legal Affairs comes from Continental

Renata Jungo Brüngger, whose responsibilities include the legal department, will leave the company at the end of October 2025, shortly before her contract expires, it was reported. According to Mercedes, her successor will be Olaf Schick, currently still a member of the Executive Board at supplier Continental.

In February 2025, Oliver Thöne, currently Head of Product Strategy and Control, will become Head of Greater China, one of the most important key positions in vehicle development according to Mercedes. He succeeds Hubertus Troska, who will remain on board as Head and Chief Representative for China until the end of July.

Mercedes has recently weakened in the all-important Chinese market. The sluggish business caused the car manufacturer's profits to plummet in the third quarter. In November, the company then announced its intention to cut costs by several billion euros a year in the coming years.
