At least 13 people have been killed in two Israeli airstrikes in the eastern part of Lebanon, according to authorities. Eight people were killed in an attack on the town of Shmestar near the Bekaa Plain, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced. Nine other people were injured, half of them in a critical condition. Four children were also among the dead.

Security sources said that at least three air strikes had been carried out in the city. The last strike hit a three-storey house. The recovery work was continuing.

According to the Ministry of Health, five people were killed in another Israeli airstrike around 15 kilometers north of Shmestar.

In addition to the war in the Gaza Strip, Israel is also at war with Hezbollah in Lebanon. According to Israel, Hezbollah is firing at Israel in support of the Islamist Hamas, which carried out a massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people. Israel responded with airstrikes and a ground offensive.
