Two Spaniards have been found guilty by a jury in the trial over the death of a German vacationer on the vacation island of Mallorca in October 2022. However, the exact sentence has not yet been determined, as a reporter from the regional court in the island's capital Palma told Deutsche Presse-Agentur this evening. It remained unclear when it would be announced. The question will mainly revolve around whether it is a case of murder or manslaughter, according to sources close to the lawyers.

The two defendants had been accused of meeting the holidaymaker from North Hesse on the street near the Ballermann party mile near Palma in the late evening of October 8, 2022, taking him with them in their van and later throwing him out of the car on the airport highway. However, they themselves claimed in court that the young man had jumped out of the van himself.

Coroner: death caused by being run over

The 20-year-old's death was then caused by being run over, as coroners testified as witnesses. A following vehicle had rolled over the man.

The public prosecutor's office and the lawyers for the German's family are each demanding 25 years in prison if the crime is classified as murder and 15 years for manslaughter. The investigators suspected that the motive was that the two Spaniards wanted to rob the drunk German. According to the indictment, the vacationer had 2.41 per mille alcohol in his blood.
