The 60th Solothurn Film Festival is all about biographies. The anniversary edition focuses on the biography of the Jura landscape with the program "Imaginaires du Jura", as announced on Wednesday during the program conference.

The cinematic retrospective will show works from 100 years of film history, all of which were shot in the Jura Arc. Biographies of people, on the other hand, will be shown in the "Focus" section. The film program in this section explores the question of why "biopics" are so popular in current filmmaking. A conspicuous number of young filmmakers are represented in the anniversary edition.

Six films have been nominated for the "Prix de Soleure". Unsurprisingly, this includes Piet Baumgartner's "Bagger Drama". Also nominated are "Dom" by Svetlana Rodina and Laurent Stoop, "Hôtel Silence" by Léa Pool, "Il ragazzo della Drina" by Zijad Ibrahimovic, "Immortals" by Maja Tschumi and "Unter Mangobäumen" by Damaris Lüthi.

The 60th Solothurn Film Festival takes place from January 22 to 29.
