Northern Switzerland Fire department extinguishes smouldering fire at recycling plant in Liestal

A smouldering fire at a recycling plant in Liestal kept the fire department on their toes on Wednesday afternoon. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly. Several people had to be examined by the emergency services due to suspected smoke inhalation.

Five of them were taken to hospital for further checks, according to the Basel-Landschaft police. The smouldering fire involving stored batteries started in a separate room at the company on Unterfeldstrasse.
